Electronic Prescriptions
You can now ask your GP to send your prescription via email to us and this allows us to have it ready before you arrive. This allows for a shorter waiting time.
With the recent change in prescription laws as a result of the pandemic, your GP can now send a legal prescription via Healthmail- a safe and secure email portal exclusively for healthcare professionals who work with the HSE. This electronic prescription replaces the traditional paper prescription and the need for you to collect the prescription.
When we receive a prescription via Healthmail, we will contact you to confirm everything is ready for collection or if you prefer it can be delivered next day. We offer free delivery nationwide on all orders over €40.
Why not save time and avoid any unnecessary visits to the GP surgery? Ask them to healthmail the prescriptions to us.
Just ask your GP to email your prescription to ballyduff.tralee@healthmail.ie
Emergency Contraception
Our Emergency Contraception Service is discreet and comprehensive. Our pharmacist will take you through a short questionnaire in the privacy of our consultation room. There are two types of emergency contraception available; one is effective up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse and the other up to 120 hours.
How much does it cost?
The current cost of this service, including the medicine is €25 for Levonorgestrel and €35 for EllaOne.. You will not be charged any fee if the pharmacist finds that it is unsafe to supply you with the medicine. Available free for medical card holders.
24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
A 24 hour blood pressure test requires you to wear a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours and takes blood pressure readings at regular intervals throughout the day and night.
As it monitors your blood pressure for 24 hours, this form of screening is more accurate than standard blood pressure tests. Doctors will often recommend 24 hour blood pressure monitoring before deciding if you need medication to lower your blood pressure or whether your medication needs to be changed.
We will fit the device in-store and remove it the following day. You will be provided with a detailed report showing the changes in your blood pressure over the 24-hour period. This report can then be brought to your GP.

Ear Piercing
Here at Ballyduff Pharmacy we offer an ear piercing service for both adults and children. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent to sign consent.
What you should know?
The ears are pierced with pre-sterilized, single-use earrings that conform to European guidelines. We pierce both ears at the same time in order to lessen the discomfort and shorten the the time in pain.
All ears are cleaned and marked as to the position of the earing. Each person or parent has an opportunity to consult on the position prior to the ear piercing been completed.
We provide people with a copy of our Ear Piercing Aftercare instructions and once followed, complications are uncommon. Certain medicines and health conditions slow the healing following an ear piercing.
All our staff members are trained at ear piercing and they have a lot of experience with frightened and anxious kids.
The cost of this service is dependent on the earring chosen but vries from €15-€30
